HAPPY HOLIDAYS

It has been a bit quiet around the blog the last two weeks as I was already in the 'shutting down' modus and realy wanted to focus on my family and my interior design business. I wanted two really great projects to 'fall' and made sure they did.
I finallized on a new logo for my blog and my new, yet to be built, website of MINT Interior Design.

We will again spend a wonderful and quit Christmas at home, just the 4 of us. No hurrying form one familydinner to the next and stuffing ourselves. We will be cooking great seasonal food, but are trying to keep it simpel and just cook with really great ingredients instead of serving a 5 -7 course meal.
This afternoon we will start of the celebrations with a childrens Christmas mass in a cute little church in Naarden and tomorrow we will have a full-on Christmas breakfast (with homemade spelt Chistmas bread!). I really look forward to doing as little as possible and spend this time of year with the people I love the most and recharge our batteries for 2014! This means I will be offline for the coming two weeks and will only return January 6th.

Happy Holidays to all you lovely people!

MINT. X-MAS HOUSE

This weekend we made some great progress with our boy his room. I hope to show you pictures of the finished 'product' in a few weeks. The thriftwood of the desk turned out to crooked for the desk we made, so we need to start over with that one...

I was busy decorating the house and was so inspired by the christmas baubles shown in my earlier post, that I decided to make them myself.
It took me some time to find big white baubles and still I couldn't find the ones I wanted (mat and white), but they will have to do. I am quite happy with the results although I could practice with having a bit more of a steady hand ;).

Last week we also hung some new lighting above our piano. Black cord and fitting and a beautiful copperthread-lamp, 2 of them, to give that bar feel and to add a bit of warmth during the winter months to come.

ALMOST

I allowed myself some small X-mas decorating before Sinterklaas leaves the country again. To slowly get into the holiday spirit.

ADVENT CALENDAR

This is the first time every I made my own advent calendar. With the kids old enough to put an effort in it and them able to appreciate it. With so much inspiration on my X-mas board on Pinterest, I just had and wanted to make one myself.
The thought of my kids waking up every morning and being all excited and happy to open another bag, makes my hart jump.

I used my moodboard canvas as a background, filled paperbags from HEMA with Christmas chocolates, stickers and glitterpens and taped the bags on the canvas with masking tape. Voila!

CHRISTMAS AT METTE

We are in the home of blogger and stylist Mette Wotkjaer and her family, in the middle of nature. The Christmas decoration in her home is mostly made from natural materials and sober colors that fit perfectly in a minimalistic scandinavian 'palet'.

CHRISTMAS DAY

As you could have seen in you my earlier posts I have decided not to put up a real Christmas tree this year. Now that it is Christmas day I kind of miss it... Especially when I see these gorgeous trees below. Merry Christmas!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

This morning I had to go to the office to do some work before I could start my Christmas days. I went home early, only to find my oldest sitting in his room behind the iPad and my youngest vast asleep on the couch under a (not so stylish, hence the Pia Wallen cross blanket is really needed here!) fleece blanket. My husband jumped in the car as soon as I set foot in the door to get our last minute groceries and wine for our Christmas celebration.
As we are currently both in an assignment and both have to work between Christmas and New year, we decided to stay home, just the 4 of us and not "do" the obligatory traveling between parents. Instead we will have, a relaxed breakfast in our pjs, walk in the woods, go running with my oldest biking next to me, play games, drink hot choco and then wine with cheese and have our fireplace lit all day.  Perfect relaxing time in between a couple of working days. I hope you all can enjoy your holidays with your loved ones. I wish you all Happy Holidays!

X-MAS DECORATION

I have decided on not having a Christmas tree this year. At least not a real one. We have recently painted the entire house. downstairs it is now completely white with a light grey floor. We love the serenity of it and have left our walls empty, for now. It just didn't feel right to hang our artwork up again, we first wanted to enjoy the whiteness. Hence we also didn't want to put up a tree in the house and choose for some alternative ways to decorate the house and make it Christmasy. The tree is filled with artwork the childeren have made over the last year at daycare and fit in perfectly with the white, black and gold theme I have this year. Except one but who cares...

WINTER LIGHTS

Darker and shorter days make me want to curl up on my couch with a hot latte or cup of mint tea and make my house cosy with dimmed lights, candles and christmas lights. Happy wintertime!
